Is Your Blog Set Up Right For Social Media?

May 4th, 2010 by Michael Feil

If you want to really get a lot of people to your website to see what you have to offer one of the things you need to do is give them great content. With social media marketing you NEED to have a blog. It’s a must!

You blog will become the hub of everything else you do. All your traffic through Twitter, Facebook, MySpcae, YouTube, etc. should be driven back to your blog. Why? Because that is where the real CONTENT should be. That is where you will speak to your visitors on a deeper level. That is where you will get your visitors to sign into your autoresponder and ultimately turn them into customers.

So what are blogs really?

Basically, blogs were first introduced as weblogs that refer to a “server’s log file.” It was created when web logging hit the virtual market. Since its inception in the mid-1990s, web logging gradually saturated the virtual
community making the Internet a viable source of greater information.

However, with web logging, you still need a web site and domain names, but with blogging, you do not need anything just an account with blog providers. In most cases, these kinds of blogs are free of charge. However, since we have been talking about attracting marketing and branding yourself it will be wise to get your personalized domain name like mine (i.e. www.michaelfeil.com).

With the onset of blogging in the industry, personal journaling had been a common ground for people who wish to be known all over the world. However, not literally famous as this is not a case on being popular or well-known personality.

Generally, blogs are created for personal use. Like a journal, people can write their daily adventures, sentiments, and whatever ideas they want to express online.

Nevertheless, with the advent of the online businesses, blogs had gradually taken the limelight in providing businesses a chance to boost their productivity online. This is where the business blogs have taken the limelight.

Business blogs are, basically, created to advertise the services or products of a certain web site or online business in order to increase online sales.

Moreover, business blogs are also one way of promoting the company so that the other readers will know that a certain company exists online. With blogs, entrepreneurs are able to establish a name in the virtual market through articles that can be very useful in the reader’s life.

From there, you can make money out of blogs by simply syndicating. This can be done many ways, and some are RSS technology and plug-ins such as TweetMeMe, Facebook Share, Comment Love, etc.

So, if you are thinking to create a blog, whether for business or for pleasure, you need to know some tips that could help you get through and make your blog one of the interesting blogs online.

Here’s how:

Get Noticed By using Gravatars!

December 29th, 2009 by Michael Feil

Gravatars are great because when you leave a comment or some kind of Social Media trail it normally has a place for you to leave your picture behind as well. Anyone that is serious about Social Media needs to understand that there is no such thing as over exposure…unless you’re SPAMMING! But I’m talking about leaving real value that people can pick up and learn from!

So obviously if you’re leaving value behind you will certainly want to leave your identification attached to that value. So why not your picture too? This is called a Gravatar, which means Globally Recognized Avatar.

So what’s an Avatar? Well, an Avatar is a head shot or a company logo. It’s just a visual of who you are. So the Gravatar is your picture that is globally recognized on all social media sites.

I was going to make a video on how to install a Gravatar but www.gravatar.com says it best. Watch the video below…

Using RSS Shortcode To Support Your Tribe

July 28th, 2009 by Michael Feil

Since we’ve been talking about how important Tribes are I feel it’s important to show you another way to support your Tribe Members.

This method will give your Tribe Members more exposure and it’s a great way to promote their blogs. If you have a blog from WordPress.org you can use this powerful plug in call RSS Shortcode. Below is a video on how I use it and how to set it up.

To see it in action just go to my “Colleagues” tab at http://michaelfeil.com/colleagues/.

If this has helped you please leave a comment and Tweet it! I appreciate it!
