Personalizing Your Site For A Better Visitor Experience

June 27th, 2009 by Michael Feil

You’ve probably have notice that this past year there is a growing shift that’s taking place online. At first there were only faint “rumblings” of change. Then came the successive “earthquakes” in the form of major changes in pay-per-click advertising, which sent many people not only scrambling, but also back to the drawing board or offline completely.

It’s no longer important to have good information to make a profit online. Or even the best information, for that matter. Since its explosion into the public arena back in 1994, the Internet has continued to grow and progress in many different ways simultaneously. The end result is not only that the internet itself has become more sophisticated, but so has its users.

This fact has not been lost on the key players of the Internet, the search engines. In order for them to stay effective, they too, have had to continually determine and then meet the increasing demands of their users.

One of the best known, Google, has decided to start doing site ranking and placement based upon a new “benchmark”, Visitor Experience.

The new stated goal is to create the best and most positive “Visitor Experience” for your site or blog. Ideally, the better the “V.E.”, the better the search engine placement. Of course, having relevant, usable information on your site or blog contributes to this.

Now that this fact is finally starting to “filter down” through the online marketing world in the aftermath of the pay-per-click advertising shake-up, the question that site owners should be asking themselves is, what steps can I take that will contribute to a positive Visitor Experience for my site or blog?

While there are several methods or tools that could be used to bring about the desired result, many of them are costly or are difficult to implement. Unless you have fairly deep pockets or are a computer expert, this approach creates a dilemma for the many thousands of site owners who either have little technical expertise or are cash-strapped.

So, is there a workable solution for these folks to use to improve “Visitor Experience” for their sites? The answer is a resounding yes! It’s the very same one that has created tremendous profits for direct marketers years prior to, and even after, the creation of the Internet.

The easiest and most powerful way to create a positive “Visitor Experience” for your site or blog can be described with one word, personalization. If you have a website that is just like everyone elses then there is nothing unique about you. Even if you want to keep that replacated website at least make a lead caputre page that will introduce yourself, give the readers your background info and how you can help them, and put an autoresponder form up there so you can capture your reader’s information.

Also, try using audio or video on your website. The more interactive your website is the more you will “connect” with your readers. For example, look at http://www.incomepowersystem.com/. This is a website to a product that I promote. I was given the same website as everyone else, but the difference is that I put up a lead caputre page with a video, and also put my own personality into the main site which makes me stand out.

The reason why I created this blog is to connect more with my subscribers. I want to hear from you so I can interact with you. Please use the comment section at the bottom of the blogs I write to comment or ask more questions. I want to create a dialogue with you!

Once you’ve implemented this simple strategy, you could be pleasantly surprised at the potential results from this addition to your site or blog. Of course, you would also want to implement this with your newsletter and/or sales letter. When your cash flow allows you to, your next step would be to purchase additional tools or resources to further enhance the Visitor Experience for your web presence.
