Developing Your Own Tribe Power Hour

 by Michael Feil

Recently my core Tribe of 5 guys started a Tribe Power Hour. This is a very fun time for us and we get a lot done in this short amount of time. I wanted to show you how we structure our time and show you what we do so you can in turn use these same techniques to build up your own core Tribe.

It all starts with an agreed upon time that works for us all, and we then conference call each other through Skype to start the process.

We normally start our sessions by sending out a tweet something like, “Doing a Syndication Power Hour With My Tribe @karyrogney, @Kenpickard, @NickLogantv, and @JonAlfredsson.”  We then update our status on Facebook with something similar.

We all start at one of our blogs and take the latest blog post, read it, and comment on it.  Having the plug-in Comment Luv on the blog will give you back links to your blog which is always good because it creates exposure for you.

Once we’re done commenting on the blog we will then Tweet it.  We do this by using the plug-in TweetMeMe or some of us have ViralTweets that we use too. In any case the post gets tweeted.  For more information on this GO HERE.

After that we all social bookmark the post though the plug-in that we all have installed on our blog called OnlyWire. This is a great plug-in because it allows you to social bookmark your post to about 22 social bookmarking sites in just one click.

Once we have completed that process with all of 5 of our blogs we then move the syndication over to Facebook.

On Facebook we all have developed Fan (business) Pages to help promote our Tribes content. We will post links from each other’s blogs there, we will promote each other there, we will comment on what other people are saying on the page, and just do as much interaction as we can with each other.

We will then do something similar to our personal Facebook Pages.

We are doing all of this while Skype is on in the background so we are constantly talking, brainstorming, and joking with each other. What is normally about an hour syndication process normally turns in to about 1 ½ to 2 hours. The time goes by fast and it actually is very fun to do.

Since we have done this our exposure has grown leaps and bounds. What I was doing for a while just by myself, I now have 4 other people that made the commitment to regularly syndicate my content getting my message out that that much faster and that much stronger.

I want to encourage you to find yourself a Tribe of 4 or 5 people and start doing this right away. You will definitely start seeing immediate results!

29 Comments and Pings on Developing Your Own Tribe Power Hour

  • Posted by Fredric on November 30, 2009 at 10:08 PM

    Hey Mike,

Thanks for sharing your experience with your core tribe. There is some real synergy formed in this process. Also, like you said it’s both fun and extremely effective at increasing one’s exposure.

This strategy is completely aligned with the principles of attraction marketing whereby in helping others we help ourselves. This is what makes it all the more powerful!

Mike, I’m glad that we have started this Tribe syndication power hour tradition!

It has really been a great experience to lear how to do this in the most efficient way and how to get the best exposure.
It can be hard to come up with new good content on a regular basis (especially in the beginning), but if you miss, (like I have done a few times) you can only blame yourself when you only get old stuff syndicated.

I’m glad to have you in my tribe! You are a great leader in this industry!

Thanks for everything that you are sharing!

      Nick,

You hit on a key word…LEVERAGE. By doing this you are leveraging yourself and your content with your other tribe members and you are getting super syndicated!

    Michael,
This is a great procedure and you’ve done a great job defining a specific way for people to syndicate each other’s blogs and social media. Power Hour is right. Good work. Phil

This is a great idea, Mike. So many people try to hide behind the Internet, but its great to be able to actually work directly with people, if not in person then at through a conference call. Awesome idea, thanks for sharing it!

      Jason,

I noticed that a lot of my business come from not staying online but by keeping the conversation going OFF LINE like with Skype or the phone. Many people are afraid to actually talk to people and wonder why their business is not going anywhere. Get on the phone and make things happen!!

Mike, thank you for sharing your tribe power hour concept. I was just talking with some local business owners about this. It’s a more enlightened and modern way to implement what used to be an “old boys’ network” in which a group helped each other over the course of their careers. Now, we’ve taken this idea online for everyone’s benefit.

I like the Skype element to stay in touch during the process. I’ve done this a lot with accountability partners but we don’t usually stay on the line. Your way seems funner!

Micheal I currently don’t technically belong to a tribe however have been watching Katie Frieling You and Kari Rogney for some time. It occurred to me that I may be able to offer you an Idea that you are not currently implementing in your strategies with tribe tuesdays. Instead of getting together the way you do it now why don’t you try using Google Wave. There would be so many things that would move smoother and you would acually be able to do tribe weeks very effectively. IF you need Wave invitations I can get them to all six of you if you wish. I think I currently have 16 of them. Going along with your tribe tradition of using technology that is free, GOOGLE WAVE is FREE! Let me know :-)

    • Posted by Michael Feil on February 08, 2010 at 3:02 PM

Thanks Ross! We all have Google Wave but haven’t had time to really use them yet. If we need any guidance I will be sure to contact you!

This was a very great way to break it down to show everyone how simplistic it is to have a core group to help syndicate your content. Thanks so much.
